Carter is two months old today! Once again time is flying by. God must have known this would be my last little baby because he gave me one that wants and needs to be held and cuddled A LOT which means I just have to let the other things go and love on my baby. Carter is not necessarily a fussy baby, he just wants to be held and rocked and if he is not being held then, well, he cries! It does make doing things like cooking and laundry kind of hard – or at least that is my excuse! It is also much more difficult to have a baby and a two year old, so much for sleeping when the baby sleeps – ha! Yes, I am in complete denial of what it will be like to have a two year old, one year old and infant in a few months! So here is what Carter is up to at the mere age of 8 weeks.
- Carter is wearing 0-3 months outfits and size one diapers, he grew quickly out of those newborn outfits. I guess by the third child our pediatrician assumes we know what is going on because he doesn’t have another appointment until he is 10 weeks old so I don’t have an exact weight, but by how tired my arms are getting I can safely say he is gaining weight.
- Carter is a great eater and faithfully wakes me up every three hours – he has only missed a feeding about 3 times in his whole life and it is never the dreaded 3:00 am feeding (okay it was once!) Thankfully he eats pretty quick and usually goes right back to sleep.
- The poor child is roomless and just has the pack-n-play in the corner of our room. However he does not like the pack-n-play and sleeps in the swing or yes, his car seat by the bed. I know that sounds terrible, but he sleeps the best in his car seat and it is all about the sleep right now.
- He loves to be rocked and loves the baby bjourn or sling. Yes those two things are my best friends right now.
- He often sleeps with his left hand up by his mouth, he must have been squished up like that in the womb.
- He is getting really good at holding up his head and is really looking around and will just stare at things like the back of the couch and we wonder what is the world he is looking at!
- He is totally loved on by everyone especially his older brother and sister. Sadly, Brynn is no longer Tanner’s favorite. Now that she can talk back and get into Tanner’s things she is not “the best sister ever” and Tanner and Brynn have their “sibling” moments. Thankfully they still get along more than they fight (and they have some incredibly cute moments), but it is now Carter that Tanner always talks about, and looks for first thing when he wakes up or gets home and just loves on. In fact we have established the rule with Tanner that when Carter is sleeping there is no hugging or kissing on him because that often led to Carter no longer sleeping and again it is all about the sleep right now! One sidenote here, Brynn still idolizes Tanner and does or wants to do everything he does. Brynn is really nice to Carter and says “Baby Carter” in the cutest voice and “shares” her toys with him, but besides that she doesn’t really pay much attention to Carter but she will follow Tanner everywhere and wants to do whatever Tanner is doing. It is very cute in my eyes, but I can see how Tanner sometimes gets annoyed. Oh, poor Tanner what is he going to do when 3 younger siblings are following him around!
And that is pretty much our little Carter right now!
