Brynn recently turned 15 months and so Brynn here are a few of your favorite things! (Cue Sound of Music. . .)
Food – you still love to eat (thank goodness!) and your current favs are definitely blueberries – which makes for some interesting diapers, but we won’t go there now. Also, veggie sticks, strawberries, scrambled eggs, and really anything that we are eating you love to eat. You have recently discovered chocolate and LOVE it – oh dear! What do you not like to eat – hum, not much! Although you have discovered that some things taste better than others. So if we put chicken and strawberries on your plate at the same time you very politely push the chicken aside OR throw it off the side of your tray and eat only the strawberries and then cry for more. But if we put just chicken on first you will eat it up. Ha – your parents are pretty smart!
You also love to eat you food “whole” just like mom, dad and Tanner. You don’t like it when we cut it up for you. Oh, but you get so messy when it’s not cut up!
Popsicles – Yes, I know this could have went under the food category, but you love them so much they needed their own recognition.
Bugs – You are so darn cute every time you see a bug you point to it and say “Bug” even if it is just a crumb on the floor – you call it a bug. And if it really is a bug you often squish it while pointing at it – poor bug!
Going Outside – You are definitely an outside girl and make a dash for the door whenever you get the chance. You especially love our water fountain, your swing, and our brand new sandbox. Although you have recently started throwing the sand and got put in your first time out just today for doing that – sigh – and so it begins! You also love to pull the green tomatoes off the plant and then throw them and call them a ball. So much for our garden this year!
Riding in your pink car – You LOVE your pink car and are just so stinking cute in it. You will actually sit better in your car than in your stroller these days.
Stuffed Animals – You just love your stuffies (and Tanner’s stuffies!) and every time you get your hands on one you just hug it and cuddle it. Again, awfully cute. You have to have some sort of stuffie to sleep with, and thankfully you are not really picky so I don’t have to keep track of a favorite. You also love to sneak into Tanner’s room, grab one of his stuffed animals off his bed and then run out of his room with it before you are caught. Again, too cute for words! Well, Tanner doesn’t find it all that cute actually.
Showers – You recently have not been loving baths, but you do love taking showers with mommy or daddy. As soon as you hear the shower turn on you make a beeline for the bathroom and if we should leave the shower door open, this is what we find, clothes and all!
PS – You were pointing to close the door, you were quite upset that the door was open and that I wasn’t closing it!
Pointing – Yes, pointing! You love to point at bugs, birds, airplanes, and dogs. What’s so funny about it is that you have this perfect little point and whenever you point you say “da!” (or “bug” if it is a bug) you are very direct and demand our attention when you are pointing something out.
Talking – You are becoming quite the chatterbox. And are really good at pronunciating words. You can clearly say ball, da-da (dad), Nan (Tanner), Ma (it’s not ma-ma, only MAAAA!), up, uh-oh, bug, dog, ba-ba (bottle) and tank do (thank you). But you have repeated many words like cracker, red, bird, more, book, doll, and milk. And yesterday you repeated what sounded very much like “one, two, three” when I was counting to you. We love it when you wake up and just chatter in your crib until we come get you.
Putting Things In or On – So not really sure how to explain this, but you love to put things into holes, like Mr. Potato Head is one of your favorite toys. You will spend quite a bit of time working on getting his eyes, ears, etc in the holes. You don’t put them in the right place, but just love to put him together. You also love to unscrew and screw back on caps. Like the cap on your diaper cream, you will sit and take it off and put it back on for a long time. You have amazing fine motor control for a 15 month old.
You will sit forever and take the bubble sticks in and out of this container!
Throwing Things Out of Your Crib – This is a fun game you play. We can always tell how long you have been up by how much stuff is on the floor around your crib. Sometimes you even insist on throwing things out before we can lift you out of your crib. Or when we put you down and you don’t want to go to sleep you throw all your pacifiers out and we can tell by your cry what you have done. You can really throw those pacis far!
Pacifiers – We have another be-be baby! You love your pacis and need to have 4-5 in your crib to sleep. You suck on one, hold one in each hand and then wrap your arms around a stuffie every time you fall asleep.
Your Mommy – Yes, I am your favorite right now. Which is very sweet, but also makes it hard to get much done. I constantly hear “MAAAA!” and hear the pit-pat of your feet coming to find me. You are quite jealous when other kids or even Tanner sits on my lap or is hugging me. You will push them away and cry until I pick you up. It’s pretty funny, but does bother Tanner sometimes. It also is a problem when anyone else (like the grandparents) want to hold and snuggle on you!
And last but not least – your absolute favorite thing (even more than me) has got to be . . .
SHOES – Any shoes left out are just asking to be tried on by you. You love to empty our shoe basket and are always walking around in someone else’s shoes. I don’t know how many times I have to go looking for one of my shoes or Tanner’s shoes that you took off with and I find them in the bathroom or under your crib. You are a shoe girl – there is no doubt about that!
So what do you not like???
Getting your hair done – You hate it when I try to brush you hair or put it in pigtails, which is the reason you look like a wild child in so many of your pictures. It all depends on if I have daddy’s help in the morning or how my patience level is if you get your hair done that day. We are in big trouble if this continues. . .
And thankfully that is about it! You really are a very easy, happy little girl. You are a great eater and sleeper so that right there makes our day, because you know that brother of yours is still not doing so great in either of those categories – but I’ll save that for his post!
We love every minute with you Brynn!!!

Wow. She got so big so fast! She's a cutie patootie! I love the shoe thing. And, in my experience, you better just hand over the shoe if she wants it. The picture in the shower is too cute! I can't tell, was the water running and she just hoped in? She's a little firecracker!
