Happy Halloween! From our mighty Power Ranger and sweet little candy corn!
Another fun Halloween week! Here’s a play by play. . .
It began with a Halloween party we had for my school staff. Always a fun time and gives me the opportunity to dust in places I haven’t dusted in for months! Tanner enjoyed helping me decorate. I personally thought I just shouldn’t clean for awhile and use the dust and cobwebs as our decorations.
Our church held a Fall festival and we experienced our first “Trunk or Treat” It was freezing cold so it lasted maybe 15 minutes as the kids ran from car to car. Nevertheless, Tanner had a practice run trick or treating and most importantly – got candy!
I had one of those “mommy” moments this week. Tanner had a pumpkin day at school where every student brought in a pumpkin and they did a whole bunch of activities with the pumpkins. Well Tanner came home and was very busy working on some secret project – he was making a pumpkin hat for Brynn like the one he had made at school. Isn’t he is the best big brother ever! Look at the picture he drew on Brynn’s hat, isn’t that the cutest pumpkin face.
We had a couple of fun food nights where we made pumpkin and ghost pizzas.
And can you guess the theme of this night before Halloween meal?
Tanner got it right away – all orange food/drink and mummy dogs!
Who says you can’t play with your food!
Of course we did the traditional pumpkin carving. Tanner carved his very own pumpkin this year, he drew the face and cut it out all by himself and thankfully no stitches needed by anyone!
Brynn thought that the pumpkin scoop with pumpkin slime all over it tasted really good, we couldn’t keep it away from her! Another sweet moment happened this night – we had five pumpkins and Tanner said we had one pumpkin for each person in our family. I thought Tanner was having counting issues, but then he pointed to each pumpkin and said this one is daddy’s, this one is mommy’s, Tanner’s, Brynn’s and for the last one he said “and this one is for our baby in China.” Yes, I could have cried!
And that brings us to Halloween day – oh what a busy day. We started with the Halloween parade at school. Don and Brynn joined us for the fun and then we went to Daddy’s work to do some Jibbitz trick treating – seriously – Tanner brought his friend and they got about 40 Jibbitz for their Crocs. Fun times! And we are traditionalists – Halloween night we headed out for good ol’ ring the doorbell, trick or treating. For once we had absolutely beautiful weather! Which meant a lot of trick or treaters! Usually Halloween is when it snows for the first time, but not this year. We are talking about the low 70’s. No jackets, hats or gloves needed. Brynn was a little worn out from the events of the day and was in bed by 6:30. Well she can’t eat the candy anyway. I guess Brynn you are still a
Tanner was also a bit worn out and on the verge of getting sick so he also came in early and helped hand out the candy, he loves to hand out the candy. And of course he sorted all his candy – another Halloween tradition! Nana was up visiting so she helped Tanner sort this year.
Well that’s a wrap for Halloween 2008, bring on the turkey!

Don't tell me that big comfy black chair that your little candy corn and her PR protector brother are sitting in in the first picture is your office chair at school!!! (Sure looks like a school office to me!) Talk about Wyoming schools having a lot of money! My chair is plastic with a centimeter thick piece of fabric on top! Sure are a couple of halloween cuties!
How did you do that cool polka dot pumpkin? Is there a special tool for that?
