Declaring My Independence!

So at the wee age of 10 and a half months Brynn is declaring her independence and do I dare say – developing a little bit of an attitude??  In other words she is becoming a high maintenance baby!   In just the last 72 hours Brynn has decided that she wants to feed herself and only eat big people food.  Her current favorite food is watermelon and when she eats all her watermelon and you try to give her something else she is not happy about it and she lets you know it by pushing the spoon away and getting food everywhere, or screeching really loud or throwing the other food you have given her on the floor.  Usually it is a combination of all three. 

So this is what she looks like after a meal these days.  And don’t you dare try to take that watermelon away from her!  Thanks goodness she likes bath time.

And let’s talk about that screeching noise she is  making these days.  She discovered last Friday that she can make this high pitched squealing/screeching sound and that has become her new favorite noise.  And she makes it often – quite often – like all the time right now.  And have I mentioned how annoying this new sound is –  there is nothing cute about it!  We are investing in ear plugs tomorrow. 

And that brings us to the last new thing Brynn has been up to lately.

This is Brynn napping – does it look like much napping is going on?  Oh no because as soon as we lay her down for her nap she pulls herself up on the side of her crib and bounces or screeches or throws everything out of her crib until someone comes in and saves her from the dreaded crib.  So much for that “put her down to sleep while she is still kind of awake so that she learns to soothe herself to sleep” advice the experts tell you.  Yes, this is really fun to deal with at 1:00 am!

Have I mentioned she is only 10 months old???  Even if you are becoming a high maintenance baby Brynn – you’re still a keeper and here’s wishing that these are all just a short phase you are going through!  Especially that screeching sound. . .
